- Ghana was founded when the Nomads used camels to find new trade routes, through the region formed by the Soninke, who called their ruler 'ghana.' Muslim traders eventually started calling this region 'Ghana.' It was a kingdom. Mali was founded south of Ghana. It was founded when miners had found a lot of gold. All of the most trade deposits had then moved. A new group of people was then made and were wealthy which let them get power.
- Trade affected Ghana because that was how they became wealthy. Two of the most important goods they traded was gold and salt.
- There were a couple of reasons Ghana fell. One of them was that drought began which made it hard for cattle. Another reason was invading forces and internal disputes. Mali fell because of internal conflicts. People began fighting within the empire.
