Buddhism and Hinduism were the two main faiths in India.
While Hinduism was dominated by priests, others urged religious tolerance. Buddhism is a religion giving Peace to all beings. Asoka had stone pillars put up saying subjects would be treated fairly and humanely, while others preached nonviolence. Missionaries were also sent to southeast Asia to spread Buddhism. Hinduism and Buddhism were also spread through trade and influenced the entire religion greatly. They also had many gods like Brahma, creator of the world, Vishnu, preserver of the world, and Shiva destroyer of the world. |
